Olive oil has a high concentration of oleic acid, but its high price, it is hardly used by the food industry, by contrast, uses profusely saturated.
The investigators concluded that, at least in rodents laboratory, oleic acid, in the small intestine, the hormone becomes OAS (OEA), which, in turn, creates a feeling of fullness in the brain. As a result, the experimental rats that were in your diet ate less, reduced weight and improved their cholesterol and triglycerides.
This discovery would have a double significance, as claimed by the team of scientists. First, it should be an important element of the diet, as its regular consumption could reduce hunger in the overweight or obese. By contrast, excessive intake of saturated fats could block the aforementioned control mechanism which, naturally, tends to control the frequency of meals.
Moreover, and as indicated by Daniele Piomelli, director of the research team, this mechanism could provide a basis for the development of new drugs, increasing satiety, help combat overweight and obesity, a major health problems of developed societies. Remedy
